Easy DIY hydroponic system for passive hydroponics at home to grow vegetables in an indoor vertical garden

Nothing beats feeding my kids delicious, fresh food!
My kids tend to like to eat vegetables, but nothing prepared me for how much they’d love eating the fresh produce they grow right in the kitchen! They are obsessed with the baby bok choy and the Tom Thumb tomatoes. We just went through the seed catalog together, and they picked out a few new vegetables that we all can’t wait to try in our mini farms.
Not only is the food we grow fun to eat — the mini farms make growing superfoods at home practically foolproof!

💧 Under $100 in supplies 🍃 Easy DIY setup ⏱️ 30-Minute Weekly Care

Every week, grocery prices climb higher and paychecks stretch thinner.
You walk out of the store with less food for more money and think, “Someday I’ll start a garden.”
But what if “someday” could be today, right on your countertop, and in about 30 days you could have your first harvest?

The Indoor Mini Farm System shows you how to grow top-quality greens in nutrient water, not dirt, so plants grow faster, cleaner, and more nutrient-dense.
It’s simple enough for beginners and powerful enough to grow more food than you can eat in a tiny space.
Once it’s set up, maintenance takes about 30 minutes a week with no dirt, no bugs, and no weeds.

That makes it a great system to feed your own family.

Imagine, in the next 30 days, you can:

  • Replace hundreds of dollars of fresh produce right from your kitchen.
  • Build food security that never stops paying you back.
  • Grow ultra-fresh, nutrient-dense greens (harvest → plate in minutes)
  • Know about superfood you can grow chosen for flavor + nutrition, not shelf life
  • Have a repeatable system that works even if you’ve “failed at gardening before”

All without dirt. Without bugs. Without fail.

“I have a black thumb, but really wanted to grow fresh food at home. I was skeptical, but the Mini Farm System made it foolproof. Thanks to the bonus planner, I haven’t missed a harvest cycle yet!”

Commonly Asked Questions, Answered

Will it smell?
No funky smells. Your Indoor Mini Farm is soil-free, so you’ll mostly notice that fresh “salad bar” scent when you harvest. If the system ever smells off, just change the water, wipe the lid, and you’re back to fresh. Using distilled water and keeping the lid snug keeps things smell-free.

What about gnats?
Gnats love damp soil and this system is soil-free. If gnats wander in from houseplants, use a sticky card nearby and make sure any potted plants aren’t over watered. (Optionally, a small amount of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the water no more than once a week can help keep things extra clean.)

Is this microgreens?
No—this system grows full-size greens and herbs indoors using simple low-tech hydroponics (no pumps).

How much time does this take?
About 5–10 minutes every 2–3 days once set up. If you’ve ever had a raised bed vegetable garden that meant spending time weekly weeding and watering, you’ll find this a lot easier.

What if I’ve never grown anything?
The system is beginner-friendly: one tote, one light, and a 5–10 minute check-in every couple of days. You get a step-by-step setup, a shopping list, and a simple planting/harvest rhythm. Follow the plan and you’ll be harvesting your first bowl of greens in just a few weeks.

What if I have mobility issues?
One of my favorite things about this system is how accessible it is. Raised beds still mean bending and reaching for weeding and harvesting but a hydroponic setup at your ideal height makes harvesting easy. For someone in a retirement home, for instance, a bin or two on the kitchen counter means eating fresh salad without bending.
